Meditation Resources + Blog
Building a regular meditation habit as a family offers a wealth of benefits that nurture both individual well-being and the strength of family connections. Meditation and mindfulness practices help children and adults alike to manage stress, improve focus, and develop greater emotional resilience: skills that are increasingly vital in our busy, modern lives.
For children especially, regular mindfulness can boost self-esteem, compassion and self-control, while supporting academic performance and positive social relationships.
For parents and caregivers, meditation encourages patience, better communication, and deeper connections with children, creating a more harmonious home environment.
Practicing together as a family not only fosters empathy and understanding, but also provides meaningful moments of calm and presence in the day. At Daylesford Dharma School, we make these benefits accessible by sharing simple meditations and mindful activities that families can easily incorporate into daily life, supporting the wellbeing of our whole community.

The month of May marks Vesak, an annual celebration of the Buddha’s birth and a time dedicated to inner peace and reflection through meditation. In honor of these values, our school community invites you to participate with us by pledging to a regular meditation practice dedicated to peace in the world.
Join our students, teachers, and families in our goal. It can be as easy as pledging to begin your evening meal with mindful eating, to bring mindfulness to a daily nature walk, or to follow a short breath meditation practice during your daily commute. There are many ways to enjoy mindful moments in our day.

Our 2026 Meditate In May Goal
We are aiming to raise $10,000 and log 3,000 meditation sessions across our community during the month of May.
We are raising funds to support a student-led project to create a Five Precepts Walking Path at our school. Students are designing this nature path as a special place to remind our visitors and us how to mindfully guide our body, speech, and mind to be a harmonious community.
